Dyed pasta is actually very easy and it can be used for so many fun things. Things you can do with kids using dyed pasta include; a sensory bin, collages, patterning, and jewelry. See below how to dye pasta in 3 easy steps!
You’ll Need This to dye Pasta:
- Pasta of your choice (we used Rigatoni for making necklaces)
- Food Coloring
- Vinegar
HOW TO DYE PASTA
Step 1. Pour your desired amount of pasta into a container. You can use a plastic container or bowl with a lid or a ziplock bag. If you want more than one color, divide the pasta up into separate containers.
Step 2. Add 1 TBSP of vinegar and several drops of food coloring of your choice. The more food coloring you add, the more vivid the coloring. Close the container and shake vigorously. I added glitter to the batch for extra fun after, then I shook it again to coat with the glitter.
Step 3. Lay the pasta out to dry. I laid mine on a cookie sheet covered with paper towels. It takes a few hours to dry or you can lay it out all night for the best results. After about an hour, I flipped them over to let the other side dry.
After it dries, it is ready to be used! We made these Friendship Necklaces with them but the options are endless!
